Mandalion Designs

Mandy ODoul

Growing seasonal outdoor flowers in West Marin and Petaluma for just a few short years, Mandalion Designs is happy to be supplying locals with beautiful blooms. In 2015, after working with Big Mesa Farm in Bolinas for a few seasons, I had the great opportunity of trying my hand at growing my own little flower garden. Being a floral designer for 15+ years then being blessed with this chance to grow my own-let's just say I have fallen in love. It's not easy. It's not always fun. There is stress, exhaustion, disappointment and a whole lot of learning, but I wouldn't have it any other way. All the hard work is very rewarding and spending my days tending to this garden is more fulfilling than anything I have ever done. I provide a wide variety of heirlooms and speciality blooms, April through November. Focused on wholesale, supplying local florist and markets with sustainably grown flowers. I am also available to provide arrangements for restaurants, corporate accounts, birthdays and small parties. Mandalion Designs will no longer be providing wedding florals due to focusing on supplying beautiful blooms to the local designers and retail business in the area. Please see preferred vendors for folks who can help you with planning your wedding florals.

I started in the floral industry actually by chance. Working in a holiday production warehouse in 2000, I picked up the basics of floral designs and started to find my talent. Working with some of the best over the years, I absorbed and learned all aspects of the floral industry in the Bay Area. The next step I have taken on in this floral journey, is the great task of growing my own garden to pull inspirations from. Like a chef orchestrating a delicious menu for the season, I choose seeds to plant and grow and then snip for you and yours. I provide farm fresh, sustainably grown flowers to Petaluma florist, local markets, and restaurants. Many varieties I grow will ignite memories of playing in your grandparents garden or helping your mom in the backyard. Heirloom blossoms are making a come back, and I'm excited to be providing pollen for our native bees and flowers for the people. In the fields you can smell the sweetness in the snapdragons and see the curious shapes and colors that nature creates. Farm fresh designs are custom and hand picked from the fields hours before they are made.

By switching gears towards the wholesale side of growing speciality fresh cut flowers, the 2017 season moved me North to a new piece of land in Petaluma at Tara Firma Farm. I look forward to seasons of growing together, and seeing what we can do.

Born and raised in beautiful Marin County, my love for nature was ignited at a young age. Respect of land conservation prompted me to volunteer with the Audubon Society, SF Botanical Gardens and work with native plant restoration projects with the Point Reyes National Seashore. I will be aiming to incorporate more natives and perennial plants into the garden and my designs. Being introduced to the world of being a grower has changed my life. The appreciation I have for locally grown and seasonal goods is nurtured in this part of the world, and for that, I'm thankful.
